Senior Portraits: What to Expect

Thank you for choosing Photos by Chip for your senior portraits!

This guide will help you understand what to expect, but be sure to ask us if you have any questions.

The Basics (for Seniors)

  • We want you to enjoy your senior portraits — both the final product as well as the process of making the images.
  • We believe you can have a lot of fun whether you are doing these portraits because you are excited about the experience or because your parents told you that you need to do it.
  • If you have a vision for what you want out of the experience, please let us know.
  • Never hesitate to let us know what you want, ask a question, or express a concern.

The Basics (for Parents)

  • We know you are probably paying for the portraits and have certain things that you want.
  • We want you to get the images that you are looking for, but we do encourage you to let your senior’s personality shine through. If they are uncomfortable, that will come through in the final images.
  • Never hesitate to let us know what you want, ask a question, or express a concern.

The Paperwork

  • A signed contract and payment are required to confirm the scheduled photo session.
  • If the senior is under 18, a parent/guardian must sign the contract.

The Photo Session

  • We have a few tips for getting ready for your portrait session that would be good for you to review.
  • We will keep an eye on the weather and let you know as soon as possible if we think it would be best to reschedule.
  • If something comes up and you won’t be able to make the scheduled time, please let us know as soon as possible.

Your Preview Images

  • Within a few days of the photo session, we will share with you a gallery of preview images for you to review.
  • All of the preview images are yours to keep.
  • After you take a little time to review your previews, you can select your favorite images for us to retouch and apply a bit of final additional polish. Most clients select 10-12 favorites, but there is no magic formula.
  • We have a guide to reviewing your preview images to help make the process run smoothly.

The Retouched Images

  • Depending on the number and complexity of edits required, it usually takes 2-3 days to return the retouched images.
  • If we missed the mark or overlooked a request, just let us know. We want you to love your retouched images and do everything we reasonably can to achieve that goal.
  • We provide a guide to using your finished portraits to answer common questions.

Referring Classmates and Friends

  • If you enjoy your experience with Photos by Chip, we encourage you to let others know about it. As thanks, we offer a small cash payment when someone tells us that you referred them. Learn more details about the senior portrait referral program.

Anything Else?

  • If you have a request for an edit to your portraits and aren’t sure if it is possible, don’t hesitate to ask. We are happy to work with you as much as possible to get them to look just the way you want them.
